Two new tip designs on the plugs include double fine electrode (DFE) for non-turbo, naturally aspirated engines, and projected square platinum electrode (PSPE) for turbo engines. Today’s efficient engine designs create more power while using less fuel and this has shortened the like of traditional Iridium and Platinum plugs. In response, NGK’s patented Ruthenium technology is used for maximum durability and performance in newer engines where efficiency is demanded.
“Utilizing patented precious-metal Ruthenium technology, the new NGK Ruthenium HX offers higher ignitability, enhanced oxidation resistance and increased durability for today’s modern engines,” said Danielle Orlando, general manager of marketing for NGK Spark Plugs USA.
The Ruthenium HX plugs provide more complete fuel burn than other precious metal plugs and the results are quicker throttle response, smoother idle, and better cold starts.
