The old saying – “You get what you pay for” – is especially true for fuel injectors. There are many options available for rebuilt or remanufactured injectors that

can save money in the short run, but the risks of using a non-OE manufacturer far outweigh the cost savings. There is a potential for total engine damage or even destroy an exhaust system. After testing numerous remanufactured or rebuilt common rail fuel injectors, Bosch found that more than 50% of them failed their tests and presented significant hazard to the engines if installed in a diesel common rail system. Tests included combustion, emissions, and fuel mileage.

After the testing, Bosch also tore down the injectors and found that many of the components had corrosion, pitting, or re-machining. These findings are considered below original design specifications.
